LC Semicon

The Semicon Learning Community was established through the national Beethoven Fund and consists of four “micro” learning communities focused on accelerating sustainable innovation within the semiconductor industry: Talent Development, Critical Raw Materials, Robotics, and Swarm Drones. Within these communities, students, researchers, companies, and societal partners collaborate on urgent challenges that are decisive for the future of high-tech manufacturing.

The learning communities combine practice-oriented research, interdisciplinary collaboration, and learning by doing. This approach not only leads to innovative solutions, but also helps develop the skills required in a rapidly changing technological sector.

Together, the Semicon micro Learning Communities form an experimental environment in which learning, innovation, and sustainability go hand in hand, creating impact both within the industry and for the next generation of Semicon professionals.

Video

In this video, you'll discover how students, researchers, and industry partners collaborate within the Semicon Learning Community to develop the technologies and innovations of tomorrow.

Technological innovation requires new talent and new competencies. This learning community focuses on developing future-proof skills, such as systems thinking, digital literacy, sustainability, and interdisciplinary collaboration. In this way, not only is technology renewed, but also education and the way we train professionals.

The semiconductor industry is heavily dependent on scarce and critical raw materials. Central to this learning community is the question of how we can handle materials more intelligently: from reuse and recycling to circular design and zero-waste production processes. The goal is to make material flows more transparent, efficient, and sustainable.

Drones are playing an increasingly important role in inspection, monitoring, and logistics. This learning community investigates how swarm drones can be deployed safely, efficiently, and responsibly within industrial environments. This includes automation, data analysis, collaboration between drones, and integration into existing systems.

Robotics plays an increasingly important role in the automation, inspection, and support of industrial processes. This learning community investigates how robots can be deployed safely, efficiently, and responsibly within complex environments. In doing so, we examine autonomy, sensors, data analysis, human-robot interaction, and integration into existing systems.
