Robotic Disassembly and Recovery of Critical Raw Materials and high value components from surgical complex instruments
Robotics can enable automated disassembly of complex surgical instruments, such as staplers, by recovering valuable components and materials otherwise incinerated. Students analyse product-construction, then design a robotic cell with suitable end-effectors and collection streams, addressing design for disassembly, contamination and deliver a proof-of-concept prototype demonstrating component separation.
