On Curaçao, rising water levels, extreme rainfall, and insufficient water retention pose a threat to the island's ecosystem. Polluted runoff harms marine life and coral reefs. Illegal discharges exacerbate the problem, which is further intensified by landfills nearing their capacity limits.

A second Learning Community is being established on Curaçao with a focus on “the healthy neighborhood.” The focus of this LC is on mapping and improving the health of the inhabitants of Curaçao. The poorer section of the population in particular suffers from obesity and a lack of opportunities for healthy activities. This theme can be interpreted very broadly, so to get a better idea, below is an overview of the themes that fall under this LC.
