Shore Power for Historic Vessels
Design a sustainable shore power solution for historic vessels in the Port of Maassluis. The project investigates energy demand, charging strategies, renewable energy integration and operational requirements to reduce emissions and improve harbour sustainability.
Student roles:
Maritime Engineering → vessel energy requirements
Electrical Engineering → shore power infrastructure
Industrial Design Engineering → user-centred system design
Business Administration → operational and financial analysis

Designing the Maassluis Harbour Microgrid
Develop a future microgrid concept connecting Loods M, harbour businesses, vessels and public facilities. Students analyse energy demand, local generation, storage and grid interactions to create a phased roadmap towards a resilient harbour energy hub.
Possible student roles:
Electrical Engineering → microgrid design and grid integration
Systems Engineering → system architecture and modelling
Data Science → energy analysis and forecasting
Sustainable Energy Technology → generation and storage assessment
